But who's chasing me?
At work, we’ve been talking about this grand plan to be hiking up in the White Mountains every weekend this summer. And a lot of those hikes are going to be pretty intense trips across entire ridges. So, it figures we have a lot of training to do before we’re able to do that without dying.
Getting exercise is always a challenge for me because of a lack of motivation and a lack of people to do it with. I don’t really want to do it after work, because I’m already tired and I don’t want to do much of anything except eat and stare at the wall. After work is a good time to shut the brain off for a while and get some relaxing in. Coincidentally, there’s a gym at work to solve the motivation thing and there are also other people at work who help with the doing it alone thing.
To make a boring story short, we went down to the gym today for some exercise and I ran for 20 minutes without stopping, at an average speed of 5.5 mph. That’s pretty good considering the last time I ran a mile was middle school. I even did some situps and some stretches. It looks like we might even repeat this several more times this week. I might even get into shape for the summer at this rate.
