I have entirely too much beer in my closet
I just took a quick survey of the closet and as it turns out, I have a whole lot of homebrew. It appears I brew way faster than I can drink.
Here’s what I’ve got right now:
One case of ginger porter - This stuff is delicious and I’m drinking it at a pretty decent rate. It’s been done for a month or so now and aging in the bottles. I’m hoping to build this one out into my own recipe in the future instead of relying on one from the homebrew store.
One case of hefeweizen - I made this when Sarah came to visit in February and after drinking a case of it, I decided I’d let the other case sit for a while to see what happens. It was delicious after two weeks of aging. I’m hoping it will be extra good after another couple months.
Three bottles of pale ale - This is the first brew I made way back in Jaunary and I am finally getting around to finishing it off. It hasn’t gotten noticably better in the meantime, but I just don’t drink very quickly. I might save the first bottle because it’s the first bottle of beer I ever made.
Two cases of Belgian trippel - This is an extra strong beer I brewed and bottled in April. This style ages for a long time, so it won’t be ready for drinking until at least October. These cases are sitting in the bottom of the closet with several others on top of them so I don’t get too anxious. I have high hopes for it.
Two cases of apricot hefeweizen - This is my latest brew that’s basically the same as the other hefeweizen, except with fewer hops and the addition of apricot flavoring. It’s just recently become ready to drink though I think I will give it another week or two before really diving in.
Five gallons of stout still aging in a carboy - I decided to make a stout and age it on bourbon-soaked wood chips. It started aging in the beginning of June and will probably have to wait two or three more weeks before bottling what with all my summer travel. So it’ll be at least a month before I see how it tastes. Eventually I would like to develop this one into my own recipe too.
So that’s a whole lot of beer - six cases of full bottles (of which I can only really drink half at the moment), plus another two cases worth aging in the carboy. If that wasn’t enough, I have another idea for a fall seasonal bouncing around in my head right now that I hope to make in August. I will probably come up with something to do in July too. Someone needs to come over and help me out with the drinking.
